9.3/10: France Hotel Guide’s expert rating

Being one of the many “speakeasy” restaurants in Paris, Bidoche has many quality meats for you on the menu, along with a warm ambiance and a cheerful butcher.

At first sight, this place from the 11th arrondissement may be a simple butcher shop like the others. But do not be fooled by appearances, because behind the counter, a restaurant is hidden in the back of the establishment.

On the menu: tartar of beef, veal or lamb as the starter, followed by the Bidoche Dish (300g of the meat of your choice), and the dessert of the day to finish. Here is a menu that will satisfy you.

You will get to choose the meat you want if you order the “Bidoche au Poids” with the cheerful butcher. Your piece of meat will then be taken to be cooked in the kitchen, before being served at your table.

We love: its concept of a restaurant-butcher shop based on the “speakeasy” phenomenon inspired by the Prohibition in the U.S. in the 1920s.

Average Price: €20 – €30

Wagyu Restaurant 1129

18 Rue du Louvre, 75001 Paris

Japanese Barbecue Kobe Beef

10/10: France Hotel Guide’s expert rating

For a culinary trip to Asia, Wagyu Restaurant 1129 will make you discover the yakiniku, or the Japanese barbecue.

The Wagyu beef (beef from Kobé) being a cut of meat that tempts all the meat-lovers who like Japanese culture for its unrivaled quality; those people will get the opportunity to enjoy it grilled, and according to their wishes (how they want the meat cooked).

The restaurant offers multiple meat platters; customers place the meat on the grill in the middle of their table. They can also have a plate of vegetables or mushrooms to go with the meat.

My favorite on their menu is the Matsu 280g platter, with their crusty and savory appetizers. Wagyu beef is a true delight!

We love: the concept of Japanese barbecues: a piece of meat cooked in only twenty seconds, and an anti-odor ventilation system.

Price: €59–€206

Les Provinces

20 Rue d’Aligre, 75012 Paris

Restaurant-Butcher Shop French beef specialty

9.1/10: France Hotel Guide’s expert rating

Les Provinces is a rather peculiar restaurant: not only is it a dining barn, but it also functions as a butcher shop where you can purchase meat products.

The butcher opens the doors of his butcher shop in the 12th arrondissement for you, and he is capable of recognizing and choosing quality meat for you.

You will have a variety of meat to choose such as lamb leg, hamburger made with foie gras, or veal sweetbread. Here’s an honorable mention for the chitterling sausage, a main course that I personally recommend.

We love: a butcher who knows the many types of meat, the concept of mixing a restaurant and a butcher shop, and the quality products.

Take your seat, for the barbecue is in the middle of your table and ready to be used. All that’s left to do is to place your marinated or spiced meats or vegetables on the grill and let it cook.

The formula is only available during lunchtime, so you will have to order on the menu. My favorite is the combo of pork belly and marinated duck served with a bowl of rice. What a true delight!

It’s with a Brazilian ambiance and roasted halal meats served as you like them, cooked on a spit in the “churrascaria” style, cut by the waiters directly at your table, that the restaurant Rodizio welcomes you. All that is left is the dancers to make you want to dance the samba!

Their buffet composed of typical dishes such as the Feijoada (the national dish) or the Moqueca (seafood stew) will take you on a gustative trip. Next stop, Rio de Janeiro!
