Mother’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year—not just because I get to spoil my mom (and sneak in a few extra croissants), but because it’s the perfect excuse to create a dreamy, delicious brunch that feels a little bit fancy… without being hard to make.
This year, I decided to give our Mother’s Day brunch a French twist.
But don’t worry—these recipes are beginner-friendly and super doable even if you’re not exactly Julia Child in the kitchen.
So let’s dive into a French-inspired brunch menu that will make Mom feel oh-so-loved.
1. Mini Croissant Sandwiches

Croissants are a must at any French-themed brunch. I like to turn them into cute little sandwiches that are both beautiful and tasty.
These are super cute, super tasty, and incredibly easy. You can make them savory or sweet, depending on what you like. I always do a mix to please everyone.
Ingredients:
- Mini croissants (store-bought is totally fine!)
- Brie or any cheese, ham, smoked salmon, or turkey
- Arugula, baby spinach, or fresh herbs
- Dijon mustard or a touch of honey
- Optional combos:
- Goat cheese, roasted aubergine & fresh arugula
- Smoked salmon, soft cheese & fresh dill
- Brie with sliced strawberries or fig jam (for a sweet version)
How to make it:
- Slice the croissants in half.
- Spread Dijon mustard or a bit of honey on one side.
- Add a slice of cheese or meat, some greens, and close it up!
- For sweet versions, spread fig jam and add a slice of Brie or fresh fruit.
They look adorable on a platter and are the perfect little bite.
Tip: If you warm them in the oven for 5 minutes at 300°F (150°C), the cheese gets all melty and irresistible.
2. Fresh Spring Salad with Goat Cheese & Walnuts

You always need something fresh and green to balance out all the buttery richness, and this spring salad is light, crunchy, and full of flavor.
Ingredients:
- Mixed greens (baby spinach, arugula, mesclun)
- Crumbled goat cheese
- A handful of walnuts
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 apple, thinly sliced
- Olive oil
- Balsamic vinegar
- Salt & pepper
How to make it:
- In a large bowl, toss together the greens, apple slices, goat cheese, cherry tomatoes and walnuts.
- Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Tip: Lightly toast the walnuts in a dry pan for a few minutes to bring out their flavor.
This salad looks elegant and takes just minutes to put together.
3. Quiche Lorraine

Quiche Lorraine is always a crowd-pleaser. Honestly, I make this for almost every brunch gathering because it never fails—and it’s even better the next day if you have leftovers (big if!).
Plus, it tastes just as good warm as it does at room temperature, so it’s perfect for a relaxed, no-stress brunch with the people you love.
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk or cream
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- 4 strips of bacon or lardons, cooked and chopped
- Salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg
How to make it:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Fit your pie crust into a tart or pie pan and pre-bake for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Add cooked bacon and cheese to the crust, then pour in the egg mixture.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden and set in the center.
You can make it ahead and serve warm or at room temperature. It’s rich, comforting, and very French.
4. Savory and Sweet Crêpes

Crêpes might seem fancy, but trust me—they’re easier than you think.
Once you’ve got that swirling motion down, you’ll be flipping them like a pro. They’re light, versatile, and perfect for brunch because you can fill them with just about anything.
And if you’ve never tried a classic French savory crêpe with ham, cheese, and a runny egg in the center… you’re in for a treat. It’s warm, melty, and that yolk? Pure brunch bliss.
Basic Crêpe Batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- Pinch of salt
Whisk everything together until smooth. Let the batter rest for 20–30 minutes (or even overnight in the fridge for a quick morning start).
To cook:
Heat a lightly oiled non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour in a small amount of batter, swirl to coat the bottom, and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and lightly crisp at the edges.
Savory Filling Idea – Ham, Egg & Cheese:
- 1 slice of ham
- 1 egg
- A handful of shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley (optional, but pretty!)
Once the crêpe is flipped, lower the heat and crack an egg right in the center. Add ham and cheese around it, and gently fold the edges of the crêpe in to form a square, leaving the yolk exposed. Cover the pan for a minute or two to help the egg cook just enough while keeping the yolk runny.
Other savory combos:
- Sautéed mushrooms + spinach + crème fraîche
- Smoked salmon + herbed cream cheese
Sweet options? Always! Fill with Nutella and bananas, lemon and sugar, or strawberries and whipped cream for dessert-style crêpes.
Let guests choose their own fillings and make it a DIY crêpe bar—everyone gets what they love, and it’s fun to assemble together.
5. Baked Camembert with Honey and Nuts

This is a total showstopper and yet ridiculously simple. It’s melty, gooey, and perfect for dipping.
Just look at that melty magic—this baked Camembert is warm, gooey, and seriously addictive. The top gets golden and bubbly, the honey adds a beautiful sweetness, and the toasted nuts bring the perfect crunch
It’s a total crowd favorite—and no one needs to know it only took five minutes to prep.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole Camembert (in the wooden box)
- 1 tsp chopped fresh rosemary or thyme
- 1 tsp honey
- A small handful of walnuts or pecans
- Crusty bread or crackers for dipping
How to make it:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Remove any plastic from the Camembert, then place it back in the wooden box or a small ovenproof dish.
- Score the top with a knife, sprinkle over herbs and nuts, and drizzle with honey.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until soft, gooey, and just starting to bubble.
- Serve hot, straight from the dish, with warm bread or crackers.
6. Cheese & Fruit Board à la Française

This is not just food, it’s decor! A French-style cheese and fruit board is elegant, colorful, and requires zero cooking.
Add a few French cheeses, fresh fruit, and something crunchy, and you’ve got a spread that everyone will hover around.
What to include:
- A few French cheeses: Brie, Camembert, Comté, or Roquefort
- Fresh fruit: grapes, blueberries, cranberries or apple slices
- Nuts: almonds or walnuts
- Baguette slices and/or crackers
- Optional: fig jam or honey
Arrange everything on a wooden board or platter. Aim for variety in color, shape, and texture.
Let guests nibble and chat over this while sipping a mimosa or coffee. It’s relaxed, chic, and very French.
Final Tips for a Lovely Mother’s Day Brunch
- Play some soft French café music in the background (think Edith Piaf or Carla Bruni are always a win).
- Handwrite a little menu or card for Mom. That personal touch goes a long way.
- Set the table with a cute tablecloth, cloth napkins, and maybe a small bunch of flowers.
Bringing a bit of French flair to your brunch doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be made with love. So pour that coffee, set the table, and enjoy the slow, happy moments.
Bon appétit, and Happy Mother’s Day! 💐
