It is on the Ile de la Cité island, in the very centre of Paris, that we find the Sainte-Chapelle. King Louis IX had this chapel built in the 1240s to house the relics of the Passion of Christ. With its fifteen glass panels and its large rose window that forms a spectacular wall of light, the Sainte-Chapelle is unquestionably a jewel of Gothic art.
