Paris is a very delightful city, and full of beautiful monuments to look at, from afar or up close. And, even if it is rather easy to distinguish its famous Iron Lady from many places when you are strolling around town, there are other spots in the capital where a wonderful landscape filled with the most splendid monuments of the City of Light suddenly appears before your eyes, in the most majestic of ways.
If you like taking pictures or rather enjoy basking in the sun with a drink in your hand in front of breathtaking scenery, this top 18 of the best views in Paris will help you find the most perfect place to enjoy the landscape our city has to offer.
To take beautiful pictures…
1) The Eiffel Tower
Champ de Mars, 5, Avenue Anatole France, 75007 Paris
What would a trip to Paris be without a detour to go and see its famous Iron Lady? From its 324-meter pinnacle, it remains the best place to enjoy a panoramic vision of the whole city.
If you are not afraid of waiting or being surrounded by a lot of people, then you will be amazed by the sights it has to offer, from its second floor or at its top – on the third floor; go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower first to have an overview of the City of Light below, then go down a floor to get a closer view, in search of the most iconic monuments of the city.
At day or at night, a breathtaking landscape will appear in front of your eyes.
If you would like to, once you are at the top and after having taken in everything, you can go to the champagne bar to properly celebrate such an amazing experience.
And if, on the contrary, it is not an unmissable view from the Eiffel Tower you are looking for, but a view of it, then do not hesitate to stop by the Trocadero. Situated only a few feet away from the foot of the Eiffel Tower, you will be able to see the Iron Lady rise in front of you in all its majesty. All it asks is for you to take her photo!
There is one drawback, though: you will most likely never be the only one trying to capture its beauty in a picture from there…
Cost: from $85.24 a person for a skip the line access to the third floor.
We like: seeing Paris from the highest spot in the capital city and how close the Trocadero is from it to get the best glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.
2) Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur
35, Rue du Chevalier de la Barre, 75018 Paris
Located at the top of the hillock of Montmartre, the Sacré-Coeur basilica is above all a religious building full of history, and that has a lot to offer by itself. It is, however, simply impossible not to notice the splendid view of Paris you can get from up there.
Whether you decide to climb up to the Dôme du Sacré Coeur (warning: you will have to climb 300 steps to go up there) or, for those who feel less courageous, you choose to just take in the view from its base, in any case you will encounter one of the most beautiful panoramas of the City of Light.
Cost: free access to the basilica, but you have to pay to go up to the Dôme (call the basilica to find out the prices).
We like: how animated and full of life a district such as Montmartre is.
3) The Belleville Park
47, Rue des Couronnes, 75020 Paris
If you are a fan of greenery and huge, quiet places, the Belleville park is the best place for you to go if you want to be able to see Paris without being surrounded by people. Located at the top of the Belleville hill, from up there you will be able to take in the landscape appearing in front of you and try and find the different Parisian monuments visible on the horizon – all of this without spending a penny, since the access to the park is free for everyone!
So what are you waiting for? Bring your tripod and take all the time you need to shoot the perfect picture, for there will be no-one here to tell you to hurry up. And if you are the kind of person who would take pictures with your own eyes rather than with a camera, why not organise a picnic in the park, where you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view while quietly savouring a meal outside?
We like: how calm this place is thanks to its lack of tourists who don’t know it well yet.

7) The Saint-Jacques Tower
Square de la tour Saint-Jacques, 75004 Paris
Located in the Square Saint-Jacques, this tower, that takes its name from the place, is all we have left of the old Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie church, which was a starting point for the road to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle. This monument is not really known by tourists, though going up this tower will give you a wonderful view over Paris, which you will be able to enjoy without too many people around, and in a calm atmosphere – something not every viewing spot can boast about having.
Be careful to book your ascent on the day you plan to do it and before going there, because there is only a limited number of tickets sold each day, and it is not open to visits all year.
Full fare: €10.

It is in between the hands of the huge clock that you will be able to watch the City of Light extend in front of you, with its Louvre museum, its Opera, and even the Sacré-Coeur.
Let your artistic mind take over and capture this moment with your camera – successful and original shots guaranteed!

Indeed, thanks to its wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower, the Bir-Hakeim Bridge is the place where tons of newly-wed couples go each year to immortalise their wedding day, or even simple tourists who come to make the perfect selfie with the Iron Lady without being disturbed by too many people around them.

We like: the atmosphere of this place well-known in the movie industry.
11) The Mont Valérien
Avenue du Professeur Léon Bernard, 92150 Suresnes
Yes, the Mont Valérien is located a few miles away from Paris, but it is still a perfect spot to get a panoramic view of the capital city. Even though it is often seen as a disadvantage, being far away can on the contrary be perceived as an asset since it attracts less tourists: it is the perfect compromise if you do not like being surrounded by too many people but still want to enjoy the view Paris has to offer.
On top of that, the Mont Valérien is by itself a wonderful place and full of history to discover while you are visiting by taking a walk there after having seen the landscape – something that will make you come back home with a lot of pictures, for sure!
We like: being able to take a walk on the hill after a stop to enjoy the views of Paris.

Port de la Conférence, Pont de l’Alma, 75008 Paris
Only established in Paris since 2017, the Monsieur Mouche bar will probably become a “must-go” of the Parisian bars soon. Indeed, located on top of the terrace of “bateaux mouche” (i.e. a typical type of boat), this rooftop bar, whose name comes from the French version of Captain Hook’s bo’sun Mister Smee in Peter Pan, and actually pays tribute to a Parisian man Alphonse Gaston Mouche, gives a bird’s-eye view over the Eiffel Tower. Come and try this new bar, and enjoy a cocktail or a glass of rosé while looking at the Iron Lady. So much fun!
Cost: cocktails from €13.
We like: the good music in the background that makes the night even more pleasurable.
18) The Printemps Haussmann
64, Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris
At first glance, the Printemps Haussmann might look like another very common clothing store, but you will be surprised to learn that some treasures of scenery are hidden inside of it. Indeed, past the different floors full of numerous things and shopping addicts in search of the perfect piece of clothing, you will find at its top a terrace with a wonderful 360-degree overview of the capital city and its unmissable monuments.
Combining both gustatory and viewing pleasures, the Printemps Haussmann bar enables you to make the most of a wonderful view while having fun. Not too expensive (compared to other rooftops bars in Paris) nor packed with too many people, the terrace of the Printemps Haussmann is thus one of the places with the best views in the capital.
Cost: €26 for a bottle of wine or rosé.
We like: the affordable prices of the Printemps Haussmann’s terrace.
