Despite its name, the Pont-Neuf (or "New Bridge") is the oldest surviving bridge in Paris. It crosses the bridge from the Quai Saint-Michel to the Quai des Grands Augustins.
At the midpoint of the bridge is a statue of King Henri IV on horseback. In 1606, when the bridge was completed, Henri IV ordered the building of Dauphin Square, to be accessed via the bridge. A walk over the bridge leads to the world-famous and long-established Parisian department store, "La Samaritaine."
