Located in the 4th arrondissement in the center of Paris, the Île Saint-Louis has plenty of beautiful streets full of impressive buildings of high architectural value, each more beautiful than the other. The streets are almost the same as they were 4 centuries ago, which creates the atmosphere of a French village. Let’s discover together the Île Saint-Louis’ charm, even though it is less famous than its neighboring isle. the Île de la Cité.

What To Do And What To See on the Île Saint-Louis?

The Rue Saint-Louis en l’Ile, the Main Artery of the Island

The rue Saint-Louis en l’Ile is one of the only arteries which enables you to cross the whole island from East to the West.

This street was named after the Church Saint-Louis en l’Ile which is located there and which we will talk about later.

As said previously, the Île Saint-Louis is filled with beautiful buildings, and you will find most of them in this street. For example, you can admire the splendid and well-known Hôtel Lambert, or the private mansion Chenizot with its magnificent frontage.

In this street, you can also find the best ice-cream maker of Paris which we will also present later.

The church was named after Louis IX, also called Saint Louis, who was the King of France in the XIIIth century and is dedicated to him.

This church is still in activity today and you can visit it; moreover, classical music concerts are organized there all year long.
