At the time of Prohibition, the production and sale of alcohol was banned. It is in these times that speakeasies, hidden clandestine bars were created. Open in 2013, the Moonshiner took its inspiration from this concept.
Indeed, to get in, you have to know where to look because there is no sign. To get inside the Moonshiner, you have to go through the Pizzeria Da Vito, which serves tasty pizzas, and pass through the cold room doors.
Inside the bar, the 1920’s are found in the decoration and even in the font used on the menu for the name of the bar.
A safe is placed in the smoking room and if you guess the combination correctly, you get what’s inside.
As for the cocktails, you can choose either classic or unique drinks to the Moonshine like the Smokey Island, the Number 6, or even the Salvia Cosmo.

In 1911, the owner of a bar in Manhattan decided to take it apart to rebuild it entirely in Paris, under the name “New York Bar”. At that time, American artists and tourists started to roll in Paris. Celebrities like Ernest Hemingway, Coco Chanel, or Humphrey Bogart were able to taste the cocktails served in this bar.
Bought by its Scottish barman, Harry Mac Elhone, in 1923, he decided to put his name in the bar name. Today, “Harry’s New York Bar” is one of the most famous around the world.
Several known cocktails were created in this bar, such as the White Lady, the Blue Lagoon (invented by Harry’s son, Andy Mac Elhone), and even the Bloody Mary!
It also has a piano bar, open Monday to Saturday, from 10pm to 2am.
Actually, it is where George Gershwin composed “American in Paris”.
Candelaria
52, rue de Saintonge, 75003 Paris

Opened in 2011, Candelaria brings together a cocktail bar and taqueria, a restaurant specializing in tacos (open every day from noon to 10:30pm and until 11pm Thursday to Saturday).
When you enter Candelaria, don’t be surprised if you only see the taqueria. Indeed, the bar is accessible by a door at the back of the room.
Spend a nice evening in a soft and cozy atmosphere. With the setting, the cocktails, and most of all, the delicious tacos, it will be like you’re in Mexico!
Try the Guêpe Verte (Green Wasp)! No, it is not an insect, but be careful, the cocktail might still sting you. Indeed, it contains chili and it is one of the original drinks of the Candelaria.
Red House
1 bis, rue de la Forge Royale, 75011 Paris

Welcome to the Far West! With its bull skull over the bar, the Red House looks like a saloon in Texas. Near Bastille, enjoy its relaxed atmosphere to sip amazing cocktails. You can also play a pinball machine while listening to rock, funk, or electro music.
Barmen are friendly and will serve you delicious drinks, like the Negroni or the Frozen Strawberry Daïquiri (the menu changes regularly). If you want, you can also eat some quesadillas, nachos, and other things while drinking your cocktail.
Lulu White
12, rue Frochot, 75009 Paris

Which district to choose to open a bar named after the most famous Madame? Pigalle, of course! The specialty of this bar is absinthe. So the menu offers a lot of cocktails with the Green Fairy inside of them. But Lulu White also serves classics and other original drinks.
The bar decoration is a mix of 2 areas: Pigalle and New Orleans with nods to Mahogany Hall, an area located in Storyville where Lulu used to live, and jazz.
No big signs will show you where Lulu White is, so pay attention or you will miss it!

To offer the best, the menu of Monsieur Antoine, made of ten or so cocktails, changes every month. Note that every syrup is homemade, fruit juices are made every morning, and the cold meats and mozzarella served come from a small Italian farmer.
