Since June 2024, Paris Metro Line 14 has provided a direct and fast connection between Orly Airport and the city center, with no transfers needed. This extension is a major improvement for travelers seeking speed, comfort, and reliability.

Fare:

  • The ticket price from Orly Airport to central Paris is €13 for a single journey (adult fare). This is a special airport fare, higher than the standard metro ticket (€2.50).
  • Navigo weekly/monthly/annual pass holders are exempt from this surcharge.
  • Tickets can be purchased via the Paris Transport mobile app or Apple Wallet to avoid an additional €2 fee charged when buying on a Navigo Easy card.

Travel Time:

  • Approximately 25 minutes from Orly Airport station to Châtelet – Les Halles, the heart of Paris.

Frequency:

  • Trains run every 1.5 to 3 minutes during peak hours, offering a very frequent service.

How it works:

  • From the airport, follow signs to the Line 14 station located near Terminal 3. Terminals 1, 2, and 4 are accessible on foot or via a free shuttle bus.
  • The trains are automated, fast, and air-conditioned, providing a comfortable ride.
  • Key stops include Gare de Lyon, Châtelet – Les Halles, and Saint-Lazare, connecting to many other metro and RER lines.

Best for:

  • Travelers who want a direct, hassle-free, and quick ride into Paris without worrying about traffic or transfers.

👍 Pros:

  • Direct connection to the city center in just 25 minutes
  • High frequency and reliability, even during rush hours
  • Fully accessible with step-free access and wide platforms
  • Air-conditioned and automated trains for comfort

👎 Cons:

  • Can be crowded during peak travel times
  • Limited space for large suitcases compared to dedicated airport shuttles or buses

Additional notes:

  • The former Orlybus shuttle service to Denfert-Rochereau was discontinued in March 2025 due to the success of Line 14 and its high ridership.

Orlyval + RER B (Train)

The Orlyval + RER B route remains a reliable and well-established way to reach central Paris from Orly Airport, especially for travelers staying near the RER B corridor or seeking direct access to major train stations.

Fare:

  • The combined ticket for Orlyval and RER B to/from central Paris is €13 (adult fare, one way) as of July 2025
  • The fare is covered by the Paris Visite pass (zones 1–5), but not by the standard Navigo Week or Day passes (these require a separate Orlyval ticket at Antony for €11.30)
  • The ticket allows transfers to the Metro and RER within Paris for 2 hours after validation

Travel Time:

  • The total journey from Orly Airport to central Paris takes 30–45 minutes, depending on your final destination and connection times
  • Orlyval runs every 4–7 minutes and takes 6 minutes to reach Antony RER station
  • RER B from Antony to Châtelet – Les Halles takes about 25 minutes

Frequency:

  • Orlyval: Every 4–7 minutes from 6:00 to 23:35 daily
  • RER B: Every 3–10 minutes throughout the day

How it works:

  • From any Orly terminal, follow signs for Orlyval (located at Orly 1–2–3 and Orly 4).
  • Board Orlyval for a 6-minute ride to Antony station.
  • At Antony, transfer to RER B northbound towards Paris; major stops include Denfert-Rochereau, Luxembourg, Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame, Châtelet – Les Halles, and Gare du Nord
  • Use the same ticket for onward Metro or RER connections within Paris.

Best for:

  • Travelers heading to destinations along the RER B line or those needing to connect to other suburban trains and Eurostar/TGV services at Gare du Nord.

👍 Pros:

  • Frequent, reliable service throughout the day
  • Direct access to several major Paris stations and Metro lines
  • Covered by Paris Visite pass (zones 1–5)

👎 Cons:

  • Requires a transfer at Antony (not a direct train)
  • Not included in standard Navigo Week/Day passes (except during special periods or with a supplement)
  • Can be crowded during peak hours
  • Lots of stairs in some stations
  • Not ideal with heavy luggage
