Winstub le Clou

Just a step away from the cathedral in a hidden alley, discover this inescapable establishment of Strasbourg in an atmosphere and a typical decoration which will make you travel back in time.

On the menu, you will find traditional Alsatian dishes, generous and homemade, such as munster pie, presskopf or fleischnakas, to be accompanied by a beer or a glass of white wine.

We advise you to book in advance, at the risk of not finding a place for dinner.

The little extra: The menu is plentiful, you will find all the Alsatian specialities without exception and the room is elegant and rustic at the same time.

S’Kaechele

Discover the restaurant S’Kaechele which means “the small kitchen” in Alsatian. The menu is simple yet good: 3 starters and 3 dishes which change according to the season and the arrivals.

The menu is certainly small, but it allows for a sophisticated cuisine, elaborated for high-quality dishes.

The little extra: In summer, take advantage of the terrace on the pedestrian street, peace and quiet are guaranteed.

Au Crocodile

If you are looking for an imaginative and audacious cuisine, go to the gastronomic restaurant Au Crocodile established in the heart of Strasbourg since 1840.

The establishment and the chef Romain Brillat offer you a classic and sophisticated cuisine, with a menu that changes with the seasons and the chef’s desires. The menu is small but offers high-quality dishes prepared with care.

Today, the restaurant has one Michelin star, but it already had 3 in the past with the previous chef Emile Jung.

The little extra: In 1801, one of Napoleon’s soldiers, Captain Ackermann, bought the establishment that the Church put up for sale. Among the treasures he brought back from the Nile, he installed a stuffed crocodile. Still present in the restaurant today.

La Cloche à Fromage

Cheese lovers, this restaurant is made for you. Since 1988, whether you are a cheese connoisseur, an amateur or a novice, the master cheesemongers of the establishment will help you discover the cheese culture and its particularities in a warm atmosphere.

Order a fondue, a raclette, a cheese platter or a dish with a touch of cheese such as roasted chicories with Bleu de Gex or beef filet and potatoes with Camembert.

The little extra: The cheese bell located in the middle of the restaurant was recognized as the largest one in the world by the Guinness Book of Records in 1989, it was replaced in 2016 and it can accommodate up to 90 different varieties of cheese.

Maison des Tanneurs

Transformed into a restaurant in 1949, the tanners’ house is an emblematic monument of Strasbourg that has existed for more than 500 years and has been classified as a historical monument since 1927.

The chef François Lenhardt offers a purely traditional cuisine with the inevitable sauerkraut, the stuffed guinea fowl or the Kougelhopf glazed with Marc de Gewürztraminer

The little extra: The architecture and the decoration of the place: the establishment remained traditional with the visible half-timberings, the geraniums on the windows all of which are on the edge of the channel.
