 Chinese New Year
From February 2 onwards, red lanterns and banners sporting new year greetings will be decorating the streets of Paris 13th district to mark the Chinese New Year. Colourful dragons will be dancing at the “dalle des Olympiades” while the splutter of firecrackers leave us in no doubt that the Year of the Rat has arrived.  Paris Carnival
On Candlemas Eve on Sunday February 3, after tucking into the traditional pancakes, take the time to explore the streets of the capital where the celebrations will be in full swing with the Paris Carnival. Discover 500 years of tradition by following this musical, costumed procession led by Pimprenelle the Cow and Pat the Clown. This year, the theme of the procession is “The Urban Jungle”, offering a lively symbol of life in Paris.  Salon de la Bibliophilie
From February 15 to 17, Paris will be hosting the Salon de la Bibliophilie (Book Collectors’ Fair). This will be held in one of the capital’s most prestigious settings, the Carrousel du Louvre. Nice Carnival
The 124th traditional Nice Carnival will be featuring the theme of ‘The King of Bats, Cats, Rats and other legendary creatures’. From February 16 to March 2, the town will be putting on its glad rags with everyone heading into the streets to celebrate the French Riviera’s largest festive wintertime event. The event programme includes flower fights and carnival float processions, with the high point of the event being the burning of Mr Carnival followed by a firework display.
