A century of jazz / Untill June 28 at the Quai Branly Museum
Along with the cinema and rock music, jazz is one of the major artistic landmarks of the 20th century. This exhibition presents a chronological history of the relationship between jazz and the graphical arts throughout the 20th century, from painting to photography and from films to literature, not forgetting drawing or cartoons, and more particularly the growth of jazz in Europe and France during the 1930s and 40s.

Court Pomp and Royal Ceremony
/ Untill june 28th Chateau de Versailles
The exhibition Court Pomp and Royal Ceremony — Court Dress in Europe, 1650-1800 follows the history of court dress in Europe, revealing France’s major influence from the mid-17th to early 19th centuries. Over 200 exhibits (dress, jewels, pictures) associated with the great European monarchies are assembled for the first time in an exhibition that will be held only at Versailles.

The origins of Buddhism in Thaïland / Untill May 25th Musôe Guimet For the first time in France an exceptional collection of works of Art will be brought together evoking the most ancient Buddhistic art. 145 works housed ou preserved in twelve of the principal Thai National Museums, completed by 19 pieces belonging to the Guimet Museum, illustrate the richness and precision of the iconography of the Dvaravati “kingdom” as well as the stylistic originality and technical particularities of an art unfamiliar to the general Western public.

One image may hide another / Untill July 6th Grand Palais
It is a real event, a unique opportunity to take a second look at the works of many artists and discover their unexpected underside. Works from different cultural spheres and periods are now grouped around Dali’s works. Their subjects are as much human figuration, illustrated by Arcimboldo’s Seasons, as landscapes, which go as far as Max Ernst, or architecture, introduced by Escher’s impossible perspectives.

13th Festival de Pâques / April 11th - 25th
Music fills the air this spring as the coastal resort of Deauville in Lower Normandy welcomes the return of the magnificent classical concerts forming part of the annual Festival de Pâques. A wide array of concerts are planned for 2009, following the resounding success of the event in previous years.
