It was following a request made to Baron Haussmann that the Théâtre du Châtelet was born.
Situated in the Ist arrondissement of Paris, the Théâtre du Châtelet was inaugurated in 1862. At that time it was used mainly for theatre performances.
The Théâtre du Châtelet had its hour of glory at the beginning of the XXth century with the Operetta, when it featured the most famous artistes in the genre, such as Luis Mariano and Tino Rossi.
After a major renovation, the Théâtre du Châtelet today puts on contemporary shows.
