Thanks to the highway A13 (Paris-Caen), it will be easy for you to reach Rouen from any road in the country. The highways A28, A29 and A150 are also going through Rouen and will allow you to reach easily the center of the city or its suburbs.

Transportation downtown

If you want to leave your car at the garage to discover Rouen, it is possible and perfectly doable! The city’s public transportation is very efficient and will allow you to reach the main touristic attractions as well as the beautiful suburbs rapidly and safely. Buses operate in the city as well as two tramway lines that will allow you to cross the river in a couple of minutes. One ticket costs 1,60 euros and we recommand a 10 or 20 travels pass if you intend to take the tramway or the bus on a regular basis during your vacations. More information here. If you feel like cycling, you will enjoy the Cy’clic system: from 5am to 1am, you can borrow a bicycle and enjoy the city like a real Rouennais! A 1-day ticket costs 1 euro and a 7-day ticket costs 5 euros. The final price can be more expensive if you use your bicycle for more than 30 minutes at a time, but Rouen is not that big and you probably won’t need your bicycle for more than 30 minutes at a time! it is the best time fo the year to discover Rouen. A lot of outdoor activities are offered during the summertime for the Rouennais but also for the tourists! You will enjoy discovering the city’s history and activites at that time of the year since it’s always warm but never to hot in Rouen between the months of May and September.
This is also at that time that you will have the chance to discover the Cathédrale Notre-Dame’s illuminations and the numerous outdoor concerts organized by the city. There, you will be able to discover the massive fresque created by the German artist Yadegar Asisi. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity during your vacations in Rouen.   • Eglise Saint Maclou:
  • This wonderful gothic church, also called “Malo” by its neighbours, has been built in Rouen during the 15th century. The church is open for free visits every Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays. Stick around at night during summer to admire the illuminations on its facade and take a look at its surroundings, especially the medieval houses of the Old Rouen.
