14. The Palais Garnier has an underground water reservoir that inspired the story of the Phantom of the Opera<\/i><\/h2>\n

A \u2018lake\u2019 beneath the Palais Garnier is said to be home to the legend of the <\/b>Phantom of the Opera<\/i><\/b>; Ernest, pianist and son of an Opera dancer, is said to still haunt the underground water reservoir where he took refuge to compose a work in memory of his beloved fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n
