It was in 1794 that the idea was launched of a Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers (Conservatory of Arts and Crafts).
It takes you on a voyage through the history of crafts, with 80,000 objects and 15,000 drawings to introduce you to the seven domains of Musée des Arts et Métiers (Museum of Arts and Crafts), including among other things scientific instruments, communication, engineering and transport.
In this collection, a number of very fine pieces account for the renown of the Musée des Arts et Métiers: Scott's steam machine, Foucault's pendulum, Breguet's plane, the model of the engine of the Ariane rocket...
As well as its rich permanent collection, the Musée des Arts et Métiers organises temporary exhibitions that make you want to see it all over again.
