In the 1250s, the Latin Quarter saw the birth of numerous schools. Just one of them distinguished itself to the point of becoming the great university that it is today, the Sorbonne.

Originally, it was only a simple secondary school, founded by Sorbon in 1257.

Over the centuries, the Sorbonne has undergone a great deal of change.

Closed during the French Revolution, it reopened to become an artist's workshop before becoming a place of teaching once more.

When it joined the University of Paris, the school became a symbol, and a meeting place for students during the May 68 events.

Known throughout the world today, the Sorbonne is home to prestigious faculties much sought after by students.
