Fête des Lumières in Lyon
On December 8 each year, the people of Lyons turn on the multitude of little lights decking out their windows as a tribute to the Virgin, and head into town to admire the illuminations and entertainment features. This traditional religious custom is accompanied by spectacular lighting effects in all of the city’s districts, with the town's main sites and monuments being specially lit up for the occasion.
