| Mulhouse is called the city of the Bollwerk, which is the name of the tower of the city, a relic of its old fortifications.

Every year in February, Mulhouse holds its international carnival. For several days, thousands of revellers from all walks of life enjoy shows, cavalcades and typical evening festivities.
