Bayeux is a town in Normandy whose beach was one of the main spots for D-Day landing on June 6, 1944. Several museums are dedicated to this historical event, among them the Musée Mémorial de la Bataille de Normandie where a unique film of the event is featured. Bayeux is also known for a famous tapestry which was probably completed sometime in the XIth century. It is 20 in by 230 ft large and depicts the events leading up to the 1066 Norman invasion of England and the invasion itself. In the centre of Bayeux's old town, you can discover the charm of a medieval place and visit the superb Notre-Dame cathedral.
